Campaign Overview
In 2024, I led the complete redesign of the U.S. Martial Arts Academy website to bring it up to modern standards, improve usability, and better reflect the academy’s vibrant community. The previous website was outdated, lacked essential program information, had minimal imagery, and did not convey the welcoming, high-energy atmosphere of the academy.
Using WordPress, I built a new, visually engaging, and user-friendly website that effectively communicated the academy’s offerings and helped prospective students and parents quickly find the information they needed.
The Challenge
The original website presented several key issues:
- Outdated design that did not reflect the quality or professionalism of the academy.
- Sparse content — limited program descriptions, few photos, and unclear calls to action.
- Lack of structure, making it difficult for new visitors to navigate or understand class offerings and schedules.
The goal was to create a
modern, informative, and visually appealing website that improved both user experience and the academy’s online presence — all within a limited budget and timeline.

Website Before: US Martial Arts Academy Homepage

Current website functionality as of October 2025.
Strategy & Approach
My strategy focused on content expansion, clear structure, and strong visual storytelling:
- Platform Upgrade: Selected WordPress for its flexibility and ease of future updates.
- Content Restructure: Organized pages around key audience needs — Programs, Instructors, Class Schedules, and Contact.
- Visual Enhancement: Incorporated high-quality photos throughout the site to showcase classes in action and highlight the community environment.
- Calls to Action: Strategically placed “Introductory Offer” and “View Our Schedule” buttons to drive conversions.
- Scalability: Designed the site with future updates in mind -- which is very useful since as of September 2025, the school had to abruptly change locations. A new updated website will be forthcoming in 2026 to reflect these changes.
Design & Content Highlights
- Modern, energetic homepage hero with dynamic imagery to reflect the academy’s community atmosphere.
- Expanded program pages with clear navigation so parents and prospective students can easily find class details and schedules.
- Consistent visual branding—typography, color palette, and button styles—creating a cohesive, professional look.
- Rich photography showcasing students, instructors, and classes to replace the sparse visuals of the previous site.
- Strategic calls to action like “Start Your Free Trial Class” to drive engagement and conversions.
- Built on WordPress for flexibility, mobile responsiveness, and easy future updates when the academy relocates.

Impact & Results
- Delivered a modern, professional website that significantly improved the academy’s online presence.
- Increased clarity of offerings, helping prospective students and parents find essential information quickly.
- Provided a scalable foundation that can be easily updated when the academy moves locations.
- Positive feedback from both the academy leadership and community members on the look and usability of the new site.
- And what's most important - NEW BUSINESS. The school as of this writing was outgrowing its former space, so will be moving to a larger location to account for this new business.
Reflection & Takeaways
- Even small organizations can benefit greatly from structured content and visual storytelling online.
- Choosing the right platform (WordPress) allowed for ease of maintenance and future adaptability.
- A clear, modern website can serve as a
powerful first impression, especially for organizations relying on community engagement.
